Five on Friday: Volume 6

August 5, 2016

What some iconic move houses are really worth. We’re intrigued about the Royal Tenenbaums house situation. What are your favorite iconic movie homes? We were devastated to hear that the gorgeous window-filled jewel from The Lake House was demolished after production!

Gabrielle has some great tips about shopping for storage. Our favorite: do your decluttering before you go pick out a new dresser. Maybe try the ever-popular Marie Kondo method. You might be surprised by how much less space you’ll need!

Sometimes we struggle with feeling how “important” design is. And then Emily Henderson goes and shows us how having a space that brings you joy may be one of the greatest gifts of all. (Side note: the pure joy in this project is a very soothing balm to the ugliness we’re seeing so often lately.)

Thinking about buying your first home? Maybe you should move to the Midwest. Bloomberg analyzed affordability for homes across the country, and pretty much discovered that that dream home in Honolulu will probably stay a dream.

David is a trip. He’s been doing a kickass job of restoring his 1865 home in Kingston New York, and he’s got the most amazing combination of ridiculous humor and insane knowledge of architectural details. That’s all for this week- make it a great weekend!

Playing Pretend With a Girl’s Nursery

Baby Boy Muratet has been around for 2 months now, and we've got just a few finishing touches to go on his awesome nursery. (It's really just those last details- isn't the final 10% of a project the hardest to get done?) But, we've also got two … [Read More...]

Baby Muratet’s Nursery Plan

We welcomed our little boy to the world on March 13th, and I've been working on a plan for his room for quite some time. Is it nearly done? Obviously not. But you know what? Newborns can't see past about 14 inches away for the first little while, so … [Read More...]
