Five on Friday: Volume 30

February 24, 2017

We’ve made it to Volume 30! That’s 150 moments of inspiration we’ve shared so far. This week we’ve got a major property listing, a lovely light bohemian living space, the sharpest (pun!) hotel, an AirBnB that we just might be priced out of, and a beautiful grassy garden.

It doesn’t look like a home where a lot of beer-swilling takes place, but this $29,000,000 estate has been in the Guinness family for nearly 80 years. Luggala rests on 5,000 acres in an Irish valley, and boasts a gorgeous main home and several guest quarters, but the real stunner is the countryside. The property includes a private lake and some of the most amazing views imaginable.

We are majorly crushing on this living room by Twofold LA. It’s bohemian without feeling cluttered, and has such a great mix of textures: the deep blue velvet sofa pairs surprisingly well with the sheepskin-covered rattan lounger! That triangular bookcase is just so simple and unique, it’s such a great focal piece. And don’t even get us started on that shibori wallpaper. WE. CANNOT. EVEN.

Designer Dorothee Meilichzn embraced the unique shape of Paris’ Hotel Panache by echoing the angle of the building in the entirely custom space. From geometric mirrors, kilim-inspired broadloom carpet, triangular desks, and there’s hardly a right angle in sight. Inspired by the era of the similarly-acute Flatiron Building,  Dorothee designed Thonet-esque headboards and coffee tables that are to die for.

We doubt she even had time to explore every room during her weekend in Texas, but this is the 10,000 s.f. mansion that housed Lady Gaga for her epic Super Bowl performance (via AirBnB). There’s plenty of room for an entourage, and tons of entertainment space: a resort-worthy poolside, full gym and sauna, private movie theatre, multiple bars, and the ultimate grill area. So if you’re in Houston and have a spare $10,000, you’ve got yourself a night at Villa Encantado.

Literally just a really lovely garden, including oversized grasses and and beautifully simple louvered back wall.

With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement? My blog has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any techniques to help reduce content from being ripped off? I’d genuinely appreciate it.

Custom Cabinets: The Dramatic Conclusion

Let's jump right into it, shall we? Last time we discussed our new custom cabinets: where they're going, why we need them, how we put them together, and how we use them. BUT, we didn't get to the crowning jewel: the handmade herringbone countertop. I … [Read More...]

Playing Pretend With a Girl’s Nursery

Baby Boy Muratet has been around for 2 months now, and we've got just a few finishing touches to go on his awesome nursery. (It's really just those last details- isn't the final 10% of a project the hardest to get done?) But, we've also got two … [Read More...]

Baby Muratet’s Nursery Plan

We welcomed our little boy to the world on March 13th, and I've been working on a plan for his room for quite some time. Is it nearly done? Obviously not. But you know what? Newborns can't see past about 14 inches away for the first little while, so … [Read More...]
