Project Moody: The Finished Table!

December 13, 2016

A while ago, we talked about our ideas for Project Moody, an unusual request for us that turned out to be such a great project!

A super quick refresher (but the link above is a great intro to this project): our clients purchased a pool table/dining table, but half of the package didn’t arrive, leaving them with the pool table/dining table top, but no base, and no benches. We came up with three different styles, and left it up to our clients to decide what would work best for them. Luckily they chose our favorite option: the farmhouse style!

We delivered the table and benches the day before Thanksgiving, just in time for a super fun holiday dinner! You can see in the first photo, we wanted to test the stability first, and added in a few cross-braces to reduce any lateral movement. Because this is a serious game table, it was important for it to be incredibly sturdy.

The pool table top and the dining top were originally a grey laminate material, but we knew that wouldn’t look good next to new real wood, so we did some serious refinishing. The table top and bench bottoms got painted black, and the table base and bench tops were stained a mid-toned wood shade. This gave us a nice contrast without it being too wild.

We absolutely love how the new black table top finish sets off the red pool felt. It’s such a nice strong contrast, but with the wood look, it’s not too modern for their space. They’ve got a mix of traditional and contemporary pieces in their home, so anything too modern would have felt out of place. The farmhouse style with simple finishes hit the spot just perfectly.

We wrapped up several other projects recently, so keep a look out for more fun posts like this soon!

Baby Boy Muratet has been around for 2 months now, and we've got just a few finishing touches to go on his awesome nursery. (It's really just those last details- isn't the final 10% of a project the hardest to get done?) But, we've also got two … [Read More...]

Baby Muratet’s Nursery Plan

We welcomed our little boy to the world on March 13th, and I've been working on a plan for his room for quite some time. Is it nearly done? Obviously not. But you know what? Newborns can't see past about 14 inches away for the first little while, so … [Read More...]
