Five on Friday: Volume 15

October 7, 2016

Whew! Demo is totally kicking our butts right now over here at Project Jenjamin, but that’s not going to stop us from sharing 5 wonderful things with you this Friday. As we go through the One Room Challenge, we want to share different ORC-related FoF’s with you, so up first are the DIY-ers that inspired us to take on this bathroom challenge. Enjoy reading this while hopefully not covered in dust and cursing the name of the people who installed hardibacker with nails..

Some of the O.G.’s of DIY renovations- John and Sherry Petersik, give us a lot of hope as unexperienced plumbing and tiling folks that we can take on a bathroom challenge and come out the other side mostly unscathed. Their DIY tips are helpful as always, and it’s incredibly inspiring to see such a big change happen on a very conscious budget.

Katie Bower did a gorgeous renovation of her guest bath with a little help from Home Depot. Katie’s pretty much a tiling pro, so she’s serving up some really great tips with this bathroom project.

Stefanie was working with a truly scary before in this guest bathroom, but some new finishes went a LONG way in making it into such a beautiful space. We love her resourcefulness in salvaging wall tiles to use in the kitchen, and respraying the existing sink and claw foot tub.

Victoria Elizabeth Barnes is one of our absolute favorites to read- there is just no one like her, and her undying love of acquiring all the Giant Fancy Things (aka GFTs). Nobody considers details quite like V.E.B. and that may be why her bathroom renovation took “nine times longer” than it should have, but boy those details sure turned into something beautiful.

Jenna Sue is a DIY-all star, y’all. Her incredible work in the Spring 2015 One Room Challenge is one of the most Pinned rooms I’ve ever seen, and with good reason. The big changes (THAT TILE!) were stunning, but we love how she incorporated several very doable DIYs that really made this bathroom so special. One of the best room transformations we have ever seen.

We’ll see you next week with demo tales for our own One Room Challenge, as well as a Five on Friday focused on some great inspiration for our Modern Nautical look.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Custom Cabinets: The Dramatic Conclusion

Let's jump right into it, shall we? Last time we discussed our new custom cabinets: where they're going, why we need them, how we put them together, and how we use them. BUT, we didn't get to the crowning jewel: the handmade herringbone countertop. I … [Read More...]

Custom Cabinets That Changed Our Lives

That title is not hyperbole, y'all. We're working on catching up with sharing everything we've done in the past year or so, and today I wanted to get down to the nitty gritty of the most useful project we've done at our home. I've … [Read More...]

Playing Pretend With a Girl’s Nursery

Baby Boy Muratet has been around for 2 months now, and we've got just a few finishing touches to go on his awesome nursery. (It's really just those last details- isn't the final 10% of a project the hardest to get done?) But, we've also got two … [Read More...]

Baby Muratet’s Nursery Plan

We welcomed our little boy to the world on March 13th, and I've been working on a plan for his room for quite some time. Is it nearly done? Obviously not. But you know what? Newborns can't see past about 14 inches away for the first little while, so … [Read More...]
