Five on Friday: Volume 14

September 30, 2016

Welcome back! While some days are still pushing 90 here down south, we’re here to fully embrace the spirit of fall. It seems like this time of year more than any other is candle-burning season. Something about the soft glow of candlelight, the subtle flicker, and the delicious aroma if you’ve gotten an autumn scented candle, just feels perfectly cozy, beautiful, and fall-like. This week, we wanted to celebrate 5 gorgeous handmade candle holders, for a little bit of beauty and inspiration in your week.

These beech candlesticks are sculptural and simple, available in both natural and black. Bonus: they’re reversible! We love the idea of a strong contrast between the candle and the base, it brings a little drama, but the look is still so simple.

We love the use of ceramics with geometric forms- the shape is softened a bit, so they’re not as ultra-modern. These gorgeous reversible pieces handmade in Tel Aviv, could work with any style home, and look great with any color candle.

On Etsy, we discovered the Yahalomis shop, a duo also out of Tel Aviv that makes gorgeous contemporary ceramics. We love their Baslat candleholder set that cleverly combines a tea light holder in the base.

Nothing says “fall” like a beautiful stack of logs ready for the fire. We loved these birch candle holders by another Etsy shop, The Creative Q. Lots of fall flavor- and a definitely do-able DIY.

We’re obsessed with the modern geometric concrete pieces by La Grunge Design of Russia. These would look stunning individually, but we think a group of them would look amazing scattered on a wooden tabletop. Bonus: these ones can be used for tea lights or tapers!

Here’s hoping your weekend is light and bright- we’ll see you in October!

Custom Cabinets: The Dramatic Conclusion

Let's jump right into it, shall we? Last time we discussed our new custom cabinets: where they're going, why we need them, how we put them together, and how we use them. BUT, we didn't get to the crowning jewel: the handmade herringbone countertop. I … [Read More...]

Custom Cabinets That Changed Our Lives

That title is not hyperbole, y'all. We're working on catching up with sharing everything we've done in the past year or so, and today I wanted to get down to the nitty gritty of the most useful project we've done at our home. I've … [Read More...]

Playing Pretend With a Girl’s Nursery

Baby Boy Muratet has been around for 2 months now, and we've got just a few finishing touches to go on his awesome nursery. (It's really just those last details- isn't the final 10% of a project the hardest to get done?) But, we've also got two … [Read More...]

Baby Muratet’s Nursery Plan

We welcomed our little boy to the world on March 13th, and I've been working on a plan for his room for quite some time. Is it nearly done? Obviously not. But you know what? Newborns can't see past about 14 inches away for the first little while, so … [Read More...]
