Five on Friday: Volume 10 (Crimson Edition!)

September 2, 2016

It’s that time of year friends.. football reigns supreme, and here at J(M)V Style, we cheer like crazy for Oklahoma football! (Don’t run away, we’re still going to talk about design today!) We met and became friends as interior design students at the University of Oklahoma, so this college and football team hold a very dear place in our hearts. To celebrate our favorite season starting this weekend, we’re bringing you some of our favorite crimson finds:

A sophisticated update to a beautiful space. A lovely bachelorette pad became a chic fiance-friendly abode, anchored with a fabulous, FABULOUS crimson sofa. We also love how those deep blue walls really make the architecture pop.

Room Makeover

The Virgin corporations are iconically red- and cheeky. Virgin Hotels Chicago is such a fun blend of quirky and chic. The custom paint-spill runner is a fun touch, but we’re most enamored with the red-accented room entries- porcelain pups included!

Crimson tones are a great touch to an industrial interior: at the Capitan Central Brewery in Argentina, the lacquered reds on the architectural features really stand out against the other textured finishes. This space is responsible for helping revitalizing the neighborhood and is intended for beer lovers, so we love the passionate pop of those crimson chairs.

A great roundup of red sofas from My Domaine. A bold piece like this has to be selected carefully: a bright color should be in a really great fabric- so that it doesn’t come across cheap looking. Look for a high-quality tweed, lush velvet, or bright leather for loads of style and an upscale feel.

And lastly, because we just can’t help it, a little eye-candy from our alma mater. The gorgeous classic Bizell library, and those red tulips… we just can’t. We’re getting all the nostalgic feels.

Happy Friday friends, and.. BOOMER SOONER!

Custom Cabinets: The Dramatic Conclusion

Let's jump right into it, shall we? Last time we discussed our new custom cabinets: where they're going, why we need them, how we put them together, and how we use them. BUT, we didn't get to the crowning jewel: the handmade herringbone countertop. I … [Read More...]

Custom Cabinets That Changed Our Lives

That title is not hyperbole, y'all. We're working on catching up with sharing everything we've done in the past year or so, and today I wanted to get down to the nitty gritty of the most useful project we've done at our home. I've … [Read More...]

Playing Pretend With a Girl’s Nursery

Baby Boy Muratet has been around for 2 months now, and we've got just a few finishing touches to go on his awesome nursery. (It's really just those last details- isn't the final 10% of a project the hardest to get done?) But, we've also got two … [Read More...]

Baby Muratet’s Nursery Plan

We welcomed our little boy to the world on March 13th, and I've been working on a plan for his room for quite some time. Is it nearly done? Obviously not. But you know what? Newborns can't see past about 14 inches away for the first little while, so … [Read More...]
